A Revelation

Two good friends of mine are abroad right now.  They are adopting a special needs child from an emerging country.

Everyday I have been eagerly reading their daily blog posts.  They are relating for their friends and relatives all stumbling blocks and every  magnificently joyful moment they’ve experienced in this journey to bring their daughter home.   Through reading their blog I have been moved to tears at times and then whooping shouts of joy each time they make it over a bureaucratic hurdle.

They are the bravest people I know.

From the safety of my home computer, I have been following the adventure of their lifetime.

However, a few minutes ago, I had an uncomfortable revelation:

“You do that a lot.  You come alive through the experiences of others.  When are you going to get off your ass and start living your own life?”

Damn.

It’s going to be a rough weekend.
