Miss Pelican's Perch

Looking at my World from a Different Place

Jargon and Slang

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt  is “to think about the argot of a particular job or profession, and see how you can incorporate it into a metaphor that governs or drives your poem.” I don’t know if it drives this poem, but I had fun browsing the slang dictionaries.

Patient
presents as alert and oriented
to time, place, self and situation.
presents with full range of emotion
presents as appropriate
in speech and interaction
presents congruent facial expressions,
does not present with any hallucinations
does not present any thoughts
of self-harm, suicidal or homicidal ideation

So you mean she’s not
crazy,
loco,
bonkers,
whacko,
sixes and sevens,
three fries short of a Happy Meal,
hanging from the chandelier?

So why they got her on a 5250?

That’s so dirty pool.
